Legality of online poker in Canada

Technically, online gambling is illegal in Canada. Only the provinces may organize gambling institutions, and the provinces are legally required to monitor and regulate them. This is why there are so few casinos or other gambling institutions in Canada, since they would need to be owned and maintained by the province. As no province offers online poker to it's citizens, there are no legal online poker services in Canada.

Affiliate poker programs allow for a player to recruit another player through a referral.
